frequently asked questions

Do you have other offices?

Yes we have three locations to best serve our clients - Tisdale, Porcupine Plain, and Archerwill.

Do you handle divorces?

Our office can assist with interspousal agreements (separation agreements) or joint petitions but we do not take on contested family law matters. The matters we do take on are subject to approval by our lawyers.

Do you go to court for drinking and driving or other criminal matters?

No, our office does not do any litigation matters, including defence work on criminal matters.

Do you do quotes?

Yes, we would be happy to provide you with a quote on your transaction. We will need certain information from you to be able to provide an estimate for our office’s services so please be prepared to provide the same to one of our assistants.

Can you tell me how my sale will affect my taxes?

No, we are unable to provide you with specific tax advice on your situation. Your accountant is the best-suited party to help you with that information, however we work closely with them to ensure that your transaction is handled with care and you are aware of any and all tax implications at all times.

How long does it take to buy/sell my house?

In order to ensure we have time to perform all necessary due diligence for your real estate transaction, we ask that we receive your documents from your realtor no later than ten (10) business days prior to the closing date.

How long does Probate take?

The time it takes to get Letters Probate or Letters of Administration varies from estate to estate, so it is difficult to provide an exact timeline. The time it takes to submit the application depends primarily on how quickly the necessary values and information can be gathered to complete the documentation, and then sign the same. Once the application as been submitted to the Court of King’s Bench, it is usually a couple of weeks from that date that we receive the issued documents.

Can I DocuSign my mortgage (or other legal documents)?

At this time, DocuSign is not an option for legal documents. If you are unable to attend at our office we can discuss options for remote signing, including with a local Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public, or Lawyer, as the case may be.
